Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder worldwide, characterized by progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNpc) and the pathological accumulation of Lewy bodies composed predominantly of aggregated α-synuclein (αSyn).
