Ten-Hour Time-Restricted Feeding Improves Post-Kidney Transplantation Dyslipidemia:a randomized controlled trial
12 weeks, registered ChiCTR2500098769
Abstract
Background Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease is a key cause of graft failure and death of kidney transplant recipients. Objective Time-restricted feeding (TRF) may be a potential way to help alleviate metabolic disorders in this population. Methods Twenty-four kidney transplant recipients who had habitual daily feeding windows of > 10 hours were randomly assigned to two groups. After a 12-week period of TRF, anthropometric and metabolic parameters were compared between groups and analyzed for changes from baseline. Results In this randomized controlled trial, the change in cholesterol (δ cholesterol) was found to have a statistically substantial variance between groups (P = 0.001). Relative to the baseline, TRF was linked with significant reductions in triglycerides (P = 0.003) and total cholesterol (P = 0.001) levels. Conclusions TRF may be beneficial in improving post-transplant dyslipidemia in kidney transplant recipients. Trial registration: The randomized controlled trial has been registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry under the registration number ChiCTR2500098769.https://www.chictr.org.cn/index.html on 2025-03-13.
