THE CLOCK - The Epigenetic Clock. The Mathematics of Biological Time. How Your Body Measures Age and How Scale Geometry Says We Can Reset It
Abstract
Your body has a clock. Not a metaphorical clock — a measurable, quantifiable, molecular clock that ticks at every cell division, at everyDNA methylation event, at every accumulation of epigenetic drift. In 2013, Steve Horvath discovered that a specific pattern of DNAmethylation across 353 CpG sites predicts biological age with amedian error of 3.6 years. The Horvath Clock measures somethingreal: the cumulative departure of the epigenome from its youthfulconfiguration. It ticks forward relentlessly — and it ticks at differentspeeds in different tissues, in different people, under differentconditions. This paper connects the Horvath Clock to Scale Geometry's EfficiencyRatio E = Rᵣₑₐᵢᵣ/Rdₐₘₐgₑ and demonstrates that biological age — asmeasured by the epigenetic clock — is a function of the integratedefficiency deficit. The clock can be read. It can be understood. And themathematics says it can be reset.
