AI-Driven IoT Wearables for Detection, Monitoring, and Management of Neurocognitive Disorders
Abstract
This chapter, as presented by the authors, examines how Internet of Things (IoT) wearable technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) systems support early detection, continuous monitoring, and assistive management of neurocognitive disorders. It reviews key wearable biosensors and AI approaches used across conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, mild cognitive impairment, and autism spectrum disorder. The chapter also addresses major challenges, including data privacy, algorithmic bias, and device limitations, while highlighting emerging directions such as brain-computer interfaces, edge AI, and digital health frameworks. While promising, real-world clinical integration remains constrained by technical, regulatory, and ethical factors.
