Abstract
In the EMPATROPISM-FE trial, lower myocardial iron content correlated with cardiac remodeling, impaired exercise capacity, reduced hematopoiesis and higher norepinephrine (NE) levels; exploratory causal mediation analysis suggested interrelations between empagliflozin effects on iron homoeostasis and treatment benefits.
