Abstract

Many women enter the menopausal transition with pre-existing endocrine disorders. The combination of endocrine diseases and climacteric syndrome may create conditions for mutual aggravation, masking of clinical manifestations, or changes in the course of the underlying endocrine disorder. In such cases, gynecologists and endocrinologists should jointly decide on the feasibility of prescribing menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), as well as on the selection of a specific medication, taking into account the characteristics of the underlying disease. An effective model of care for women receiving MHT should be based on a multidisciplinary approach, in which the endocrinologist plays one of the key roles in ensuring the metabolic safety and efficacy of treatment. This review presents a contemporary perspective on strategies for personalizing MHT in various endocrine disorders. The aim of this study was to review the literature on the principles of prescribing MHT in women with endocrine diseases.
