Functional Remodeling of Parvalbumin Interneurons Enhances Corticospinal Output in the Aged Motor Cortex
Preprints.org
Abstract
The primary motor cortex (M1) controls voluntary movements through the coordinated interactions between excitatory pyramidal neurons (Pyr) and inhibitory parvalbumin-expressing interneurons (PV-INs). Although PV-INs are critical for regulating motor output and motor coordination, their role in age-related motor decline remains unclear.
