Abstract

Leveraging three waves of data from a diverse and international sample of over 200,000 individuals across 22 countries and one territory, this longitudinal study will evaluate a range of predictors from Wave 2 of health limitations in Wave 3 while controlling for a rich set of covariates in Wave 1. We hypothesize that a number of Wave 2 variables will have meaningful and varied associations with subsequent health limitations assessed approximately one year later. Additionally, we anticipate the pattern of these associations will differ by country, reflecting diverse societal influences. Using multivariate regression and E-values to evaluate robustness to potential unmeasured confounding, this study aims to provide insight into the potential determinants of health limitations to provide additional evidence for developing approaches to altering health limitations in different national contexts.
