Receipt 1 (10.1093/ajh/hpx102) reports that higher sauna frequency is inversely associated with incident hypertension in Eastern Finnish men over 24.7 years, with a dose–response gradient (HR 0.54 for 4–7 sessions/week vs 1). Receipt 2 (10.1007/s12471 015 0676 7) frames sauna as "a warm heart" therapy that lowers blood pressure, but documents rare Finnish sauna deaths in which ~50% of cases involved alcohol and ~44% of Swedish sauna fatalities were alcohol related. The 2+2=5 angle The longevity/healthspan pitch and the safety/case fatality literature do not contradict each other statistically — they describe two different denominators. The protective signal is built on chronic, frequent exposure in a population based Eastern Finnish cohort without baseline hypertension. The mortality signal is built on rare acute cases in which alcohol and cardiovascular disease co occur. The non obvious bridge: the same intervention that is cardioprotective in aggregate may concentrate its fatal tail in alcohol impaired sessions, an interaction the
