Abstract

The current study aims to examine whether multiple indicators of daily coexperienced positive emotional dynamics in dyadic contexts predict subsequent psychological and physical health. Using two intensive longitudinal datasets of older couples from Vancouver (N = ~170) and Germany (N = ~318), partners reported positive emotions 5–7 times daily for seven consecutive days. Coexperienced positive emotions will be operationalized as moments when both partners reported higher-than-usual positive emotions while together, adjusting for individual- and couple-level affective tendencies. We will also explore moderation of effects by relationship satisfaction, sex, and age.
