Abstract
Genetic mitochondrial diseases (GMDs) are major challenges to human health accounting for a significant fraction of heritable neurologic diseases, myopathies, and inborn errors of metabolism. Leigh syndrome (LS) is the most common clinical presentation of GMD in pediatric patients.
