Abstract

The study aims to explore the current state of research on physical resilience and identify research hotspots and trends in this field. A bibliometric analysis of physical resilience research from 2001 to 2024 and knowledge mapping were performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer. A total of 180 publications were included, showing a general upward trend in annual publication volume. The United States, Duke University, Whitson, HE, and Journal of Gerontology Series A - Biological Sciences and Medical Sciences were identified as the most influential entities within this field, representing the leading country, institution, author, and journal, respectively. Three major research trends were identified: healthy aging and physical resilience, the definition and measurement of physical resilience, and underlying mechanisms of physical resilience. It's essential to strengthen global, institutional, and academic partnerships moving forward. The development of interventions targeting specific disease populations or types of stressors is a major future direction.
