REFERENCE CENTER FOR AGING AND MOVEMENT (CREM)
Abstract
The Reference Center for Aging and Movement (CREM) is a university extension program that offers systematic physical exercise interventions for older adults in the community, integrating teaching, research, and extension. This observational analytical study aimed to present CREM and analyze the functional and health profile of the 456 older adults participating in 2025. Predominantly women, white, and with an income of 1 to 3 minimum wages; the mean age was 73.13 years. The functional profile showed favorable scores in balance, agility, and aerobic endurance, but a deficit in flexibility. The MoCA score suggests a threshold for mild cognitive impairment. Clinically, medication use is almost universal, and there is a high prevalence of memory problems and a history of falls. Chronic pain is the main concern, affecting the spine and knees. It is concluded that CREM serves older adults with multimorbidity and relevant clinical and functional needs, reinforcing the importance of the program for promoting healthy aging.
