Low Serum Albumin Predicts Accelerated Cognitive Decline in Older Adults with Type 2 Diabetes: Effects of APOE4 Genotype

AAIC 2025 Abstract

Abstract

Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is associated with increased risk of cognitive decline and dementia. Low albumin levels may contribute to cognitive decline; older adults with T2D have lower albumin. Low serum albumin is linked to endothelial dysfunction in cerebral blood vessels.
