Abstract
Background: Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is a frequent precursor to Alzheimer’s dementia (AD). Mitochondrial dysfunction, marked by reduced cytochrome c oxidase (CCO) activity and lower ATP production, is linked to these neurodegenerative diseases.
