Background and AimsAtrial fibrillation (AF) is associated with dementia and cognitive decline; it remains unclear whether the association is independent of cardiovascular comorbidities, particularly stroke. We aimed to establish stroke-dependent and stroke-independent effects of AF on multiple layers of brain health.
