Abstract

Heart failure is a common chronic disease in older adults, and cognitive frailty has a relatively high incidence among older patients with heart failure and is closely associated with adverse health outcomes. Cognitive frailty is a clinical phenotype characterized by the coexistence of physical frailty and cognitive impairment, and its onset and progression are jointly influenced by multidimensional factors. This article reviews the main influencing factors and nursing strategies for cognitive frailty in older patients with heart failure, examines the risk of its occurrence across 3 dimensions—sociodemographic characteristics, physical disease and health indicators, and psychological factors and lifestyle—and summarizes key points of nursing management in conjunction with individualized nutritional interventions, exercise rehabilitation and coordinated sleep interventions, combined cognitive and psychological interventions, dual-task training, and comprehensive multidomain interventions, aiming to provide a reference for risk identification, nursing assessment, and clinical management of cognitive frailty in older patients with heart failure.
