Synergistic Effects of Plasma p ‐tau217 and GFAP on Neurodegeneration and Cognitive Decline in Cognitively Unimpaired Individuals

AAIC 2025 Abstract

Abstract

Background: Plasma phosphorylated tau at threonine 217 ( p ‐tau217) is an accurate biomarker for Alzheimer's pathology. Emerging data suggest that plasma p ‐tau217, especially when combined with Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP), predicts cognitive decline up to a decade before clinical onset.
