Abstract

Background: Tau pathology is a driving force behind cognitive decline in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD). While amyloid‐β (Aβ) amplifies tau spread and neurotoxicity, tau accumulation may occur independently of and at subthreshold Aβ levels.
