Conditions
Immune cell function; Inflammatory and Immune System - Normal development and function of the immune system
Interventions
High-dose omega-3 fatty acid supplementation (Arm 2) Participants will receive oral omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (n-3 PUFA; approximately 4800 mg/day) supplementation containing eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for 4 weeks

Primary outcomes

  • Change in immune cell membrane omega-3 fatty acid composition[Immune cell membrane fatty acid composition will be quantified using targeted lipidomic analysis (liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, LC-MS/MS). The primary endpoint is the change in fatty acid incorporation into immune cell membrane
