With increasing age, the elderly experience a decline in the function of the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems, resulting in a decreased ability to maintain body balance, thereby increasing the risk of falls. Balance disorders in the elderly can decrease the ability to perform activities of daily living and impact quality of life, so that effective exercise programs are needed to improve balance through enhancing flexibility, postural control, and balance strategies. This study aims to determine the difference in the effectiveness of the combination of Balance Strategy Exercise (BSE) and Active Stretching Exercise (ASE) compared to Full Walking Tandem Exercise (FWTE) in improving balance in elderly women in Dalung Village. This study is an experimental study with a pre-test and post-test two-group design. The study subjects consisted of 46 elderly women who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and were then divided into two groups, namely the combination BSE and ASE group and the FWTE group. The intervention was given for four weeks according to the established exercise program, and balance ability was measured before and after the intervention using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUGT). The results of the study showed that both groups experienced an improvement in balance after the intervention. The combination BSE and ASE group experienced a decrease in TUGT time of 2.01 seconds (p=0.000; p<0.05), whereas the FWTE group experienced a decrease in TUGT time of 0.27 seconds (p=0.000; p<0.05). Between-group comparative analysis showed that the improvement in balance in the combination BSE and ASE group was greater than in the FWTE group. Thus, the combination of Balance Strategy Exercise and Active Stretching Exercise is more effective than Full Walking Tandem Exercise in improving balance in elderly women in Dalung Village.
