By Mitra, Hidayat T, Heryyanoor

INTRODUCTION: Hypertension is one of the main risk factors for death. One nonpharmacological intervention that can be performed is ergonomic exercise. Ergonomic exercise was selected as the intervention in this study because this method is effective in lowering blood pressure. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to obtain an overview of the application of ergonomic exercise for hypertension in older adults. METHODS: The case used in this study was descriptive, with a case study approach involving 1 respondent in the catchment area of Guntung Payung Community Health Center, Banjarbaru. RESULTS: The results showed that ergonomic exercise performed for 3 consecutive days, with a duration of 10-15 minutes per session, at the older adult's home in the catchment area of Guntung Payung Community Health Center, Banjarbaru, led to a decrease in blood pressure from 170/100 mmHg before ergonomic exercise to 150/80 mmHg. CONCLUSIONS: Ergonomic exercise can lower blood pressure in older adults with hypertension, as evidenced by a decrease in the older adult's blood pressure readings. RECOMMENDATIONS: Community nurses can apply ergonomic exercise in patients with hypertension.
