Immortality: Biological Limits, Scientific Research, and Future Prospects
By Raghav
This literature review explores the scientific, technological, and ethical dimensions of human immortality. It examines the biological foundations of aging, including cellular senescence, telomeres, and evolutionary theories, and reviews current interventions such as telomerase activation, epigenetic reprogramming, and senolytic therapies. Additionally, it discusses speculative technological approaches, including cryonics and mind uploading, while highlighting the ethical and societal challenges of pursuing extended human life. The review concludes that, although significant progress has been made in extending healthspan, true immortality remains beyond current scientific capabilities.
