Current research mapping of respiratory sarcopenia: A protocol for a scoping review

By Okura K, Oikawa M, Nagura H et al.

Respiratory Sarcopenia, the loss of respiratory muscle mass and strength, is a clinically significant syndrome linked to poor prognosis. While a Japanese working group has proposed key diagnostic criteria, including for probable respiratory sarcopenia, the broader research landscape remains fragmented. Therefore, this scoping review aims to systematically map the existing literature, providing a comprehensive overview of the populations studied, definitions used, outcomes measured, and interventions investigated.
