Sleep and Neurodegeneration: Artificial Intelligence Applications in Early Detection and Personalized Care
By Ibrahim A, Ganglberger W, Cesari M et al.
Sleep disturbances are increasingly recognized as both risk factors for and prodromal markers of neurodegenerative diseases. The glymphatic system provides a mechanistic basis for the bidirectional relationship between disrupted sleep and misfolded protein accumulation. Artificial intelligence (AI) applications, including automated sleep staging, wearable monitoring, and digital treatments, offer scalable tools for early detection and personalized sleep health promotion. This review examines current evidence linking sleep medicine, neurodegeneration, and AI.
