Abstract

Metabolic syndrome (MetS), characterized by a cluster of interrelated metabolic abnormalities including central obesity, elevated blood pressure, dysglycemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), substantially increases type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease risk.
