OBJECTIVE: To determine the prevalence of hypertension and describe some associated factors among patients aged 18 years and older attending outpatient visits at Tra Vinh General Hospital. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 318 patients aged 18 years and older attending outpatient visits at Tra Vinh General Hospital in 2025. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews; PR (KTC 95%) was used to measure associations, and p < 0.05 was used to determine statistical significance. RESULTS: The prevalence of hypertension was 75.79%. Factors associated with hypertension prevalence included: the 55 - 64 age group (PR = 2.70; KTC 95%: 1.50 - 4.83) and the ≥ 65 age group (PR = 2.80; KTC 95%: 1.57 - 5.00) compared with the 18 - 44 age group, a history of diabetes (PR = 1.17; KTC 95%: 1.04 - 1.31), and a family history of hypertension (PR = 1.36; KTC 95%: 1.16 - 1.59). In addition, the study also found statistically significant associations with the homemaker occupational group (PR = 1.31; KTC 95%: 1.01 - 1.72) and the retired/older adult group (PR = 1.39; KTC 95%: 1.08 - 1.79). CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of hypertension among outpatients at Tra Vinh General Hospital in 2025 was high. Older age, family history, and diabetes help identify high-risk groups. Regular blood pressure screening, counseling on lifestyle changes, and integrated hypertension and diabetes management at the primary care level need to be strengthened.
