AIM: To evaluate the prognostic significance of metabolic risk factors in the formation of obesity and malignant neoplasms in the population of the Republic of Tatarstan. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of the incidence of obesity and malignant neoplasms (MNP) in the adult population of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2018-2025, as well as the results of medical examinations in the post-covid period (2021-2025). Risk factors were assessed as: obesity, MNP, diseases characterized by high blood pressure, hyperglycemia, hypercholesterolemia, poor nutrition, low physical activity. RESULTS: An increase in the prevalence of MNP has been noted by 12.9% and obesity by 135.4%, a statistically close relationship was found between the incidence of MNP and obesity r=0.702 (R2=0.544). An increase in the proportion of people with obesity and malignancies and an increase in the detection of metabolic and behavioral risk factors were revealed. Among the able-bodied population, there was a significant increase in the incidence of hypercholesterolemia in men (by 10.3%, p=0.015) and women (by 9.0%, p=0.024) without gender characteristics (p=0.849), and among the elderly - only among women (by 11.3%, p=0.041), an increase in the frequency of low physical activity and poor nutrition in both men (p=0.0001) and women (p=0.0003) in both age groups. The incidence of hypercholesterolemia demonstrated a statistically significant association with the incidence of obesity and malignancies in the able-bodied population r =0.981 with R2=0.962 and r =0.939 with R2=0.881, respectively, in the elderly – r =0.975 with R2=0.951 and r =0.905 with R2=0.818, respectively, also in the working-age population: between the incidence of obesity and hyperglycemia r =0.974 at R2=0.949, between the incidence of MNP and hyperglycemia r =0.981 at R2=0.962 (p0.001); In the elderly– the difference between the incidence of obesity and hyperglycemia was r =0.950 with R2=0.902 (p0.05), and between the incidence of MNP and hyperglycemia was r =0.941 with R2=0.886 (p0.05). CONCLUSION: Metabolic risk factors have a high prognostic significance in the development and annual increase in the incidence of obesity and malignant neoplasms, especially among the working-age population, what is important to consider when developing corporate programs for the prevention of noncommunicable diseases.
