Methods used to assess hip abductor strength and lateral balance control in older adults
By Yogalakshmi R
hip abductor muscle strength and lateral balance control in older adults. Hip abductor strength is essential for maintaining pelvic stability and controlling the center of mass during standing and movement. Age-related declines in muscle strength and neuromuscular control can impair the ability to resist lateral perturbations, increasing fall risk. Lateral balance control reflects the individual’s capacity to respond to destabilizing forces through coordinated muscular and postural strategies. Assessment of these factors helps in understanding mechanisms of balance impairment and fall susceptibility in the elderly population
