Digital Monitoring of Frailty in Community-Dwelling Older Adults: A Scoping Review Protocol
By Mo, Hana, Cha MJ et al.
This project is a scoping review protocol on digital monitoring of frailty in community-dwelling older adults. The review aims to map and synthesize the existing literature on the use of ambient sensors, wearable sensors, and conversational agents to monitor frailty-related indicators in daily life and to examine their use for frailty identification, assessment, or prediction. Frailty is dynamic and potentially reversible, yet conventional assessments are often clinic-based and episodic, which may limit their ability to capture day-to-day changes in real-world settings. This review will examine what types of digital technologies have been used, what kinds of data, indicators, and features have been collected or derived, how frailty has been defined and measured, and what analytic approaches and performance measures have been reported. The expected outcome is a structured overview of the current evidence base, including methodological patterns, technology types, and research gaps that may inform future work in digital frailty monitoring.
