Genomic architecture of pain and its association with frailty

In this research project I will examine the extent of the association between painful conditions and frailty (a state of ill-health and vulnerability to adverse outcomes) in adults using genomic data. I aim to define pain through biologically meaningful latent factors (confirmatory factor analysis), investigate these factors' association with frailty (in a genomic structural equation modelling framework) and, with functional annotation, explore the biological pathways underlying this association.
