Background: Inflammation plays a central role in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) pathology and may contribute to sex differences in AD risk. Elevated levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), a marker of astrocytic reactivity, have been associated with faster rates of cognitive decline.
