Abstract
Background: The enzyme indoleamine‐2,3‐dioxygenase ( IDO1 ) is highly expressed in astrocytes in response to inflammatory stimuli associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). IDO1 plays a critical role in the conversion of tryptophan to kynurenine, a process that facilitates immune suppression under inflammatory conditions.
